Welcome!
The Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection
Biology – Hans Knöll Institute (HKI) – in cooperation with the Friedrich Schiller University Jena
(FSU) and the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology (MPI CE) are offering an
international graduate program. The International Leibniz Research
School (ILRS Jena) gives PhD students the possibility to prepare
for their PhD exam in an ambitious program providing excellent research
conditions. The courses of the ILRS Jena are held in English. The
program of study of the ILRS Jena can be downloaded
here.
The International Leibniz Research School for Microbial and Biomolecular
Interactions is open to obtain a doctoral degree in biology, biochemistry, pharmacy
and other life sciences.
Mission
In their natural habitat microorganisms form a multi-organismic
network. Relations between interacting members could be of commensal,
mutualistic, symbiotic or parasitic nature. The underlying mechanisms
of communication between organisms of various developmental levels
are poorly understood. The outstanding microbiological community
in Jena (Germany) closely works together to advance basic research in biological communication.
The program covers the main topics
- interactions between microorganisms
- host / microbial pathogen interactions
- role of networks and bioinformatics.
For further details please check the
Research statement.
The ILRS is part of the
“Jena School for Microbial
Communication” (JSMC) which has been established
in 2006 as an umbrella organisation of three existing Research
Training Groups. The JSMC is funded by the German Excellence
Initiative.
