PhD Project:
Error Correction for the Integration of Proteome and Transcriptome data

Project Leader: PD. Dr. Reinhard Guthke

Abstract:
The problem of integrating proteome and transcriptome data is not well solved. One main problem is that both data is afflicted with high error. In transcriptome data it is at least possible to estimate the error due the design of the microarray chips. For proteome date the situation is worse, the 2-D gel electrophoresis gels are difficult to analyse and evaluate. On the other side there are many heuristic algorithms in computerscience,
e.g. neural networks which can handle unsharp data, and evaluate them. The goal is to create an automatic error predictor for an integrated proteome and transcriptome analysis.
