We will meet in front of Prof. Hertwecks office on Monday 15, at
9.30 a.m.
The aim of this course is to give a brief overview on analytical
methods in natural product research. A seminar will provide
information on general approaches to identify and characterize
microbial metabolites.
Practical work will involve the following topics:
1. Separation of a culture broth (TLC) and testing (bioautogram).
2. HPLC-MS monitoring of secondary metabolite production.
3. Demonstration of high-performance analytical machines (NMR,
MALDI, MS)
4. Optionally: Protein-MS or other techniques.
The number of participants is limited to 6 students.
