epithelium
- Fully booked! Date

from 09:00 - 18:00
HKI, Beutenbergstr. 11a, Dept. Microbial Pathogenicity
Mechanisms, Laborhaus 3, seminar room 1st floor
Course instructors
Dr. Duncan Wilson, Francois Mayer
Description
Oral C. albicans infections are characterised by adhesion
of the fungus to the epithelium, invasion into host cells and
tissue destruction. Techniques for analysing these stages of
host-pathogen interactions will be presented by practical
demonstrations and hands-on experiments
Details
· Cell culture of human oral epithelial cell monolayers
· Preparation of fungal cells for infection
· Differential staining and fluorescence microscopy of fungal
cells adhering to and invading human oral cells
· Biochemical techniques for determining the damage caused to
human cells by C. albicans
· The number of participants is limited to 6 students
