Application Procedure

Dear applicant,

thank you for your interest in the ILRS Graduate School. Please note that the application procedure is handled online exclusively via this website.

The ILRS recruitment is a two-step procedure:

Step 1: Statement of Interest and Application
Please acquaint yourself with the PhD projects offered within the ILRS Recruitment Call. Information about the projects can be found here. Download and thoroughly complete the "Statement of Interest" form. In this form, you can specify up to three projects that you are interested in. The “Cover Letter” section provides space for you to specify your scientific and personal reasons to apply at ILRS and to give details about your methodological experiences. This section is highly significant for the success of the application, so please complete it carefully.

Please note that applications can only be considered upon receipt of the completed "Statement of Interest".

In addition to the completed “Statement of Interest”, the application includes:
• a curriculum vitae
• copies of relevant certificates (university credentials such as MSc, BSc, etc.)
• three letters of reference.

Please include all files, including the “Statement of Interest”, in one single PDF document!

Submit your application by email to: ilrs@hki-jena.de

Deadline for application is November 30, 2011. Applications received after this date cannot be accepted.

Step 2: ILRS Recruitment Meeting
After evaluation of the applications by the ILRS Faculty, selected applicants might be asked to participate in phone interviews. Based on the outcome of the evaluation and the interviews, successful candidates will be invited to attend the ILRS Recruitment Meeting in Jena, Germany, on February 13-14, 2012. Travel and accommodation expenses will be covered by ILRS. At the Recruitment Meeting, candidates will briefly present their previous research results and do personal interviews with the ILRS faculty members. The applicants will also have the chance to get to know the participating institutions in Jena and to talk to faculty members and current ILRS students. The final decision about the acceptance into ILRS will be made around two weeks after the Recruitment Meeting.
